Growing up, physiotherapy was part of my family life.
My younger brother was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. We were told he would never walk and would always need help, but we did everything we could to support him.
There were appointments to juggle, countless physio sessions and home exercises to complete every single day.
When he was seven
His first independent steps.
When he was seven, he took his first independent steps! To this day, this remains one of the happiest moments of my life. It felt like a whole new world opened up to him.
Years later
Becoming a physiotherapist.
Years later, I qualified as a physiotherapist and went on to manage a local paediatric clinic. I then moved to London to complete a master’s in paediatric physiotherapy at UCL.
My practice today
Bringing that experience with me.
Today, I specialise in physiotherapy for children with cerebral palsy. Alongside my private practice, I work as a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist within the NHS. In 2026, I opened Maria’s Physio!
If my experience has taught me anything, it is that physiotherapy works best when it supports family life, rather than taking over from it.
I love getting to know children and their families from all walks of life, working together on the goals that matter most to them — and having lots of fun along the way!
